P325 was built on a simple idea: complex fluid and thermal problems deserve rigorous thinking, not just software output.

Our first real project came almost by accident: CFD support on a home fragrance diffuser, brought to us through a former colleague. It wasn't glamorous, but it was exactly the kind of problem we wanted to build P325 around. Unfamiliar, technically demanding, and solvable through first principles and careful thinking rather than a playbook. That project shaped how we work today.

Our Story

P325 started with a friendship. We met while working at Faraday Future and, although we weren't on the same team, it didn't take long to recognize the quality of each other's work. Strong thermal engineers are harder to find than people think, and that respect became the foundation for something bigger.

The idea for a consulting company came up early and stuck around for years, growing quietly in the background until it felt inevitable. What made it work wasn't just the friendship. It was that our backgrounds, thermal engineering and aerodynamics and fluid dynamics, are different enough to see problems from more than one angle, and connected enough to work through them together.

How We Think

The name P325 comes from an inside joke between us, an odd engineering question and a quick back-of-the-envelope fluid mechanics calculation that landed on an answer near 0.325. It stuck, not because the number mattered, but because of what it represented: curiosity, first principles, and a willingness to work through the unfamiliar until it makes sense.

That's still how we approach every project. We don't start with a template or an established workflow. We start by understanding the physics of the problem in front of us, then build the right method around it. Software is a tool we use, not a substitute for understanding.

What We Stand For

Our promise is simple: sound physics, honest guidance, and analysis that leads to action.

We believe complexity shouldn't be hidden behind polished outputs or technical jargon. Every project comes with assumptions and limitations, and we'd rather tell you what the analysis doesn't show than let you assume more certainty than the model supports. That honesty is what makes the results usable, not just impressive.

We also see ourselves as an extension of your team, not a disconnected analysis provider. That means listening closely, asking questions when something doesn't add up, and staying focused on your broader engineering goal rather than just delivering a set of numbers.

Meet the Founders

Sergio González

Co-Founder & Principal Engineer

Sergio González is a co-founder and principal engineer at P325 Engineering, with an extensive career in aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and product development across Formula 1, electric vehicles, advanced air mobility, and fixed-wing aircraft. His work spans external aerodynamics, internal flows, simulation methodology development, and correlation with physical testing.

At P325, Sergio applies first-principles thinking and practical engineering judgment to help clients understand complex fluid-flow problems, improve their designs, and make technically informed decisions—the same instinct, as it happens, that gave the company its name. Ask him about it sometime. He may mention a napkin, a text message, and a number that stuck. He probably will not tell you much more than that.

When he is not deep in a mesh, he is usually trying to understand how something else works—how wine or mezcal is made, what separates good nigiri from forgettable nigiri, or why a melody lands the way it does. His working theory is that a good engineer stays curious about everything, not only the things with Reynolds numbers.

Chris McNamara

Co-Founder & Principal Engineer

Chris McNamara is a co-founder and principal engineer at P325 Engineering, with expertise in thermal-fluid systems control & design, thermal analysis, and product development across renewable energy, electric vehicles, consumer product, and commercial/defense satellite sectors. His work spans thermal and power analyses, electronics cooling, HVAC and cryogenic systems, internal flows, analytical tool generation, research and development, as well as product correlation, validation, and verification. He has also spent time in the educational field as a professor at Cal Poly Pomona teaching applied thermal courses.

At P325, Chris applies his expertise to break down complex engineering analyses to simpler, practical ideas to digest so that clients can better understand their systems and make optimal design choices. His love for technical education aids customers in understanding their systems no matter how complex by distilling the technical details to something more intuitive.

Outside of P325, Chris can be found applying his technical craft to his own nerdy hobbies or writing music in his spare time. There’s usually a technical side to musical composition, but without the emotive and creative sides, it’s not very good music.
